An information system is a data processing system that engages
in collecting, processing, editing, storing, transmitting
and supplying data relating to a certain area of application.
The term information system is normally used in a narrower
sense to refer to an automated system, It then refers to the
applications in combination with the IT infrastructure.
In a wider sense the information system includes all the
procedures and resources in connection with the data of a
certain area of application. A non-automated administrative
system is therefore an information system, too.
